To All Federal Flight Deck Officers (FFDOs): We honor FFDO Captain Jonathan Jay Campos (05/13/1990 – 01/29/2025) for his dedicated, selfless service to our nation, his passengers and his crew. FFDO Campos died while in mission status in the performance of his duties, protecting our nation’s capital and ensuring the sanctity of our nation’s skies. FFDO Campos embodied what is best in our national character. He was a dedicated FFDO who flew hundreds of volunteer missions, sacrificing time, money and resources to provide the last line of defense for the flying public. He took on this responsibility without any expectation of accolades or recognition. He was a quiet professional who served us all honorably. We call on our parent agency, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), to bestow FFDO Campos, as the first active FFDO who has fallen in the …

Hello [firstname], FFDO Stakeholder Meeting Held 08 October 2020 Las Vegas Field Office, Las Vegas, NV The stakeholder meeting in LSV was well represented by FFDOA leadership. FFDO Branch Manager Denise Stark-Jones and FFDO Deputy Branch Manager Dan Kuhn attended, representing TSA. The FFDO population continues to grow and is approaching pre-covid numbers. FFDOs flew over 1 million missions in support of national security in FY 2024, with over 23 million missions flown since program inception, at an estimated $23 per mission cost to the U.S. Government. As stated in many other communications, we remain the most efficient layer of security in TSA’s arsenal, and each FFDO should be proud of their contribution. Currently, the Program is operating under a Continuing Resolution (CR) for FY25. Once the government passes an FY25 Appropriation Act, we will know the FY25 Program budget. The program …

Hello [firstname], FFDO Stakeholder Meeting Held 28 Jun 24 at the Federal Air Marshal Training Center (FAMTC)Atlantic City, NJ (ACY) The stakeholder holder meeting in ACY was well attended by several FFDOA members and leadership as well as TSA FFDO Program Branch Manager Denise Stark-Jones and Deputy Branch Manager Daniel Kuhn. Also, the Federal Air Marshal Service Director, Mr. Brian Belcher, joined us for a short time with a quick briefing and to answer questions. This meeting was a special one, as it was held directly after the first official Senior FFDO Training Program. (MORE TO COME ON THIS LATER!) The program reports that the FFDO population is growing, and we are recovering, slowly but surely, to pre-COVID levels, which represented an approximate 18% loss in active officers. Mission count remains high, and FFDOs are on track to exceed …

Hello [firstname], Hello [firstname], This message is going out solely to our "basic" or free memberships. First, thank you for your participation and attention to these updates. We are certainly stronger together! To that end, I am reaching out to ask if you would consider upgrading to a "premium" membership at FFDOA. As you may be aware, COVID negatively impacted the FFDO program as a whole, reducing the overall population to its lowest level in years. Consequently, FFDOA's numbers have declined as well. All Officers, Directors and Associates are volunteers, and receive no compensation or benefit for the time we spend working on FFDOA issues, but the association has recurring expenses such as website costs, security updates, payment processing, email servers, and NAPO dues. As president of the association, I am not comfortable with our recovery after COVID, …
